This position will oversee clinical services in several specialty services, including Cardiology, other disease states as necessary, statewide for Kaiser Permanente Washington. The position will be based at our administrative offices in Renton (10 miles south of downtown Seattle).

Although this position is primarily clinical, it epitomizes the integrated nature that sets Kaiser Permanente Washington apart. It will involve clinical, operational and health plan components as necessary to be a trusted partner of our patients, our purchasers and our community. The Coordinator will have a leadership role in all aspects of the Kaiser Permanente system statewide, including responsibility and accountability for:

* Partnership with the relevant specialties at leadership levels on all aspects pertaining to relevant drugs.

* Management of Clinical Safety and medication issues relevant to specialties.

* Provide leadership for accountable clinical programs through development of tactics/approach, standard work/work flows and tools for clinical programs and strategies that have high operational complexity that are driven by patient/provider clinical interventions through clinical staff

* Monitor and provide oversight of process metrics and quality outcomes for clinical programs

* Provide support in writing evidence based drug monographs for individual drugs and drug classes in support of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee and its subcommittees as necessary

* Oversight of Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services for relevant specialties in conjunction with Pharmacy Administration.

* Coordination of programs to manage defined patient populations or disease states with complex medication-related issues, development and maintenance of Collaborative Drug Therapy Agreements, and training of other pharmacists in teaching classes, educational sessions or group visits where deemed appropriate.

* Provision of drug information as specialty expert to clinicians statewide, including partnership with Drug Information Services and Pharmacy Solution Center.

* Oversight of comprehensive clinical education plan for pharmacists and providers for relevant specialties, including partnership with (or consultation to) medical leaders providing Continuing Medical Education and Clinical Guideline Review.

* Precepting of students and residents as appropriate

Qualifications

Experience

Minimum: 4-5 years of clinical managed care experience (or equivalent) related to utilization management and/or clinical/operational program development. Experience in med management for specialty disease states/medications and high risk populations.

Preferred: 6 years of experience in one or more relevant specialties or completion of a specialty residency. Experience in interacting with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, care management, etc; developing and providing education on relevant topics, and using evidence based medicine. Experience in managing patient populations and clinical operations preferred.

Knowledge

Minimum: Advanced skills in literature evaluation, program development for quality/affordability clinical programs and utilization management. Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft standard suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Visio. Excellent verbal (including presentations) and written communication skills; project management skills, working with teams, problem solving skills, attention to detail and ability to innovate and apply forward thinking. Strong ability to understand and work with pharmacy claims data (and medical claims data preferred) to demonstrate clinical value of programs. Able to multi-task, organize multiple projects, collaborate effectively, lead teams and work with key thought leaders to accomplish desired results.

Preferred: Leadership experience; Project management skills, Academic detailing skills; Knowledge of managed care health systems; Familiarity with business intelligence and analytics; Knowledge of clinical and quality metrics (Medicare 5-star, HEDIS, PQA) Understanding of evidence-based medicine; Excellent customer service skills; Excellent current knowledge of medication therapy; Ability to prioritize workload effectively. May be required to travel to other Kaiser Permanente locations as needed.

Education

Minimum: Doctorate Degree 1) PharmD or equivalent and 2) Completion of PGY1 and PGY2 residencies (or equivalent).

Preferred: Specialty residency

Certification

Minimum: At time of hire, must have 1) Current Washington State Pharmacist License and 2) Current Board Certification (or equivalent)
