Quarry Supervisor - Full-time / Part-time

Job Description:

Specialty Granules LLC is searching for a dynamic leader to manage its quarry operations at their Plant in Blue Ridge Summit, PA. The Quarry Supervisor will help manage the blasting, loading, transporting, and crushing of quarry rock for production of granules. Work entails direct supervision of quarry operations and personnel to include equipment and loader operators and truck drivers in order to meet planned production goals. Operations are performed in outdoor areas where extremes of heat, cold, dust, noise, wet conditions and rough terrain exist. The Quarry Supervisor is responsible for balancing priorities, manpower, and equipment. Is responsible for safety, quality of work, and productivity while driving a continuous improvement and problem solving culture within the work group.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide a safe work place through adherence to company safety policy, housekeeping and defined standards of training. Lead shift safety meetings. Monitor compliance to safety policies and procedures, acquire and demonstrate thorough knowledge of MSHA standards, conduct inspections of contractor and quarry areas, and ensure deficiencies found are resolved or appropriately communicated. Ensure quarry personnel are well trained, involved, and committed to meeting department expectations including following all safety requirements.
• Manage costs at the lowest possible level while producing the quantity and quality of rock required on-time and according to the production plan.
• Provide leadership in department and administrative support required (approximately 30% in nature). Accurately and timely prepare required reports and maintain accurate data and other records as required. Schedule/plan manpower and production schedules. Notification of downtime to management with clear/detailed explanation of issues as required
• Suggest ways to improve methods, procedures and work practices. Address performance issues promptly and in a fair and consistent manner and provide effective and timely feedback.
• Support department expense target goals by minimizing costs without negatively impacting operating results.
• Support efforts for the large capital projects within the plant.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree is required, Bachelor's in Mining Engineering preferred.
• 3 to 5 years management and/or supervisory experience within the mining industry required.
• Knowledge of quarry planning, pattern layout, blasting and drilling.
• Must have strong communication, leadership, and problem solving skills.
• Effective verbal/written/listening communications skills.
• Proficient Computer skills - Microsoft Office Outlook/Excel/Word.
