Job Title: Project Purchasing Manager
Reports To: Purchasing Logistics Manager & Site Project Manager
Position Summary: Responsible for total procurement cycle of material including sourcing, planning, purchasing, delivering, and returning of material in support of project requirements.
Description of Work:
  • Work with Project team to identify main activities/milestones in a project schedule.
    • Review Bills of Materials from segmented schedule and combined quantities based on Material Type
    • Issue RFPs to suppliers and leverage estimated qtys to secure availability based pricing for bulk buyouts
  • Sit in schedule meetings and update team with upcoming major deliveries
  • Engage distributors and Project Team to develop Commodity execution plans
    • Consignment Purchasing -Conex on site with VMI capabilities
      • Work with Project team & Supplier to organize and set up by scope of work
      • Establish Minimum Stock Quantities and replenishing requirements
    • Planning Meeting sit in planning meetings to remind the field that a requisition needs to be placed for components needed to install the work
  • Manage, delegate, and perform everyday material buying
    • Maintain tracking log and PO execution log
    • Source Product Requisitions and Issue Consolidated Purchase Orders
    • Delegate Purchase Order overflow to assigned clerks
  • Develop project purchasing & delivery plans to meet jobs specific needs/requirements as it relates to purchasing, delivery, and receipt of material.
    • Relay Laydown Areas, Required PPE, and Site Offload expectations to suppliers
Essential Job Functions
  • Negotiate agreements with suppliers for assigned projects.
  • Establish positive relationship with suppliers.
  • Establish material plan for projects, and maintain a Purchasing Status Report.
  • Assist the project team and drive the proper process for building material submittal packages.
  • Solicit and analyze the job material estimate.
  • Follow established procedures and processes to manage job assignments.
  • Collaborate with PEs, GFs, and SUPs to develop a comprehensive list of tools, consumables, and supplies needed to construct the job in an organized fashion.
  • Be active member of project team to influence purchasing decisions.
  • Provide weekly status reports/updates to management.
  • Identify and Drive cost reduction opportunities
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Construction Management Degree, Business Degree or equivalent 4 year degree preferred
Experience: 5 - 10 years electrical material experience.
Specific Skills: Independent, strong communication and organizational skills.
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Excel, Word.
Supervisory Responsibility, if any: N/A
