Business success begins with a deep understanding of the consumers and markets we serve. The role of Kao's Market Research organization is to build holistic consumer understanding and to represent the voice of the consumer in key business decisions from consumer segmentation to brand equity choices to product innovation to advertising development to in-store fundamentals.



As a Skin Care Market Research intern, you will assist in the planning, execution, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative consumer research projects related to key business questions on Kao's Skin Care Brands - Jergens, BiorA(C), CurA(C)l, and Ban. You will work closely with members of the Skin Care Market Research team as well as cross-functional partners to identify key insights and to develop data-driven recommendations. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build competency and mastery across a wide spectrum of research methodologies and tools.



Key work may include:

  • Managing key aspects of qualitative and quantitative market research projects: writing proposals and screeners, study invoice management, questionnaire and discussion guide development, data analysis, report writing, building presentations and presenting results to key business partners.
  • Analyzing, synthesizing, and interpreting a range of data types and sources.
  • Translating consumer and market insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Leading the integration of learning across studies to develop "best practices" and institutional knowledge for Kao.
  • Leading Market Research organizational initiatives to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency (e.g., study database management, study tracking/reporting)



  • Ideal candidate is an individual looking for a long-term internship/co-op while pursuing bachelor's or master's degree. Relevant fields of study include Business, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Sociology, Communication, and Psychology.
  • Must be a current student, immediately available to start , willing to take on co-op rotation or internship.
  • Prior professional experience in a related field is preferred. Experience in a CPG environment or in the Beauty industry is a plus.
  • Must have strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Must have excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and prioritization skills are a must.
  • Must be a self-starter who is passionate, flexible and has a strong drive for results.
  • Previous experience with research design (in academic or applied settings) is preferred.
  • Understanding of basic marketing principles is preferred.
