This company is part of a global organization that provides quality automotive products and services worldwide for both new vehicles and vehicle aftermarket. This position is located outside of Detroit, MI. The company provides products for the major automotive makers here in the United States.
The Director, Manufacturing Quality is responsible for ensuring quality objectives and targets are being achieved throughout the organization. This position leads key initiatives to improve manufacturing quality throughout the North American Plants. Activities include leading PDCAs for areas falling short of the KPI target. Special emphasis will be placed on PFMEA & Control Plan during product and process development phase, and performing proactive process improvements utilizing APQP and PFMEA RPN reduction initiatives during mass production.
* Ensure full compliance and effectiveness of control plans, and problem-solving improvements concerning red flag issues.
* Coordinates activities with site quality managers and plant managers.
* Leads Quality Planning initiatives and develops Quality objectives for the company.
* Establish Quality standards, targets, and KPIs.
* Analyze quality problem areas, develop cost effective, complete solutions, and insure the full implementation of countermeasures.
* Lead cost reduction opportunities by effectively applying the Cost of Quality model
* Continually improve the Quality Management System (ISO/TS) by coordinating Audits (internal/external), Management Review, systematic root cause reviews of customer complaints, etc., and achieve full compliance to regulatory requirements such as ECE, JIS, CCC, etc.
* Interacts with customers and corporate in CS high priority issues
Requirements:
* BS Engineering or Technical undergraduate degree.
* 10 years of quality leadership in multi-site roles.
* International experience.
* Successful deployment of functional quality systems over multi-site organization.
* Extensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems and documentation
* A deep understanding in Problem Solving using tools from Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, 5P, etc.
* Experience in Lean Mfg. and continuous improvement (Kaizan).
* Team building and superior communication skills.
