Position Summary
The massage therapist functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team of care providers who reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm and mutual respect. This position is responsible for providing professional massage therapy services for patients in an outpatient setting to promote relaxation, pain relief, and optimal healing.
Job Qualifications
Education or Formal Training
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited or approved school of massage therapy with a minimum of 500
  • hours of massage therapy training preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Certification in Manual Lymph Drainage Techniques.
Preferred:
  • 1000 hours of massage therapy experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience with cross training in related complementary care areas such as
  • Therapeutic Touch/Healing Touch, Reiki, aromatherapy, reflexology, or acupressure.
Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.)
Registered Massage Therapist with the State of Colorado Required.
Materials and Equipment Directly Used
  • Massage therapy supplies: table, linens, lotion, oil.
  • Standard office equipment: computer, phone, fax, copier, printer
Working Environment
  • Position requires treating patients at the Tebo Family Medical Pavilion located at the Foothills Campus of Boulder Community Hospital.
  • Position may also involve treating patients at other sites as determined by Director/Manager and patient needs.
  • Moderate stress level due to daily interaction with cancer care patients coping with the stresses of their illness, busy work environment, and rapidly changing situations, interruptions, schedule changes.
  • Occasional stressful encounters with staff, patients, families and physicians.
  • Noise level in the work environment is typically low.
  • Hours may include weekends, and/or extended hours depending on job necessity.
Physical Activities
Must have adequate visual skills, verbal, auditory, and written communication skills, fine motor function and coordination, manual sensitivity and reasonable physical strength and stamina. Should be able to tolerate extended times standing, and adhere to stresses of a busy schedule. Must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 lbs., frequently support, push pull and/or lift up to 30 lbs., and occasionally support push, pull and/or lift up to 50 lbs.
