SUMMARY
To ensure the safety of guests and members within the pool areas of Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Enforcement of state rules and complex policies, manual accessible for review.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas

  • Assist in various aquatic programs and recreation activities

  • Maintain required hourly pool counts and chemical readings

  • Perform all reasonable duties assigned by supervisor

  • Respond and render assistance in all aquatic emergencies

  • Redirect guest and member complaints or concerns to Assistant Health Club Manager.

  • Maintain good rapport with fellow employees and reflect positive attitude while working.

  • Follow proper grooming and dress standards set forth by the performer handbook.

  • Maintain an open line of communication with the supervisor and all management.

  • Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the resort.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Must have a current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

  • Must have a current certification in American Red Cross Community or Professional C.P.R.

  • Must have a current certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Better than average customer service skills, good written and verbal communication skills.

  • It is not uncommon for pool deck traffic to be a??slowa?? as occupancy rates of the hotel can affect our business in the pool and health club areas. Must be able to cope with down time in an appropriate manner.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • The employee may occasionally exert great amounts of energy during water rescues or pool maintenance activities.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.

  • The employee frequently is required to sit.

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS
Individuals must be willing to accept possible confrontation, maintain a calm demeanor and contact the necessary channels for assistance, i.e. hotel security, club management, and the supervisor on duty. Must be able to cope with a??slowa?? times in an appropriate manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical working conditions can and may vary from day to day, hour by hour. Water, warm, and often busy environments can define a typical day in the pool area. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
COMMENTS
Native American Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug/alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality
