Assistant General Manager - Restaurant

After thirty-six years creating and expanding one of Madison, Wisconsins iconic restaurants, management seeks a new Assistant General Manager. The ideal candidate would embrace our view that a welcoming and warm atmosphere is the most important quality in a restaurant. We seek a dynamic hands-on Assistant General Manager that can wear the many hats needed to Lead this diverse operation and who has the vision and financial skills to advance what was started as a culinary experiment. The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day food and beverage operations with direct oversight of the entire guest experience with a strong focus on the front of house operation. The successful candidate will have a strong floor presence, exemplary culinary talent, engaging personality and strong leadership skills and will also be responsible for all budgeting, purchasing, hiring, training and systems/procedures within the front of house food and beverage operations in the Restaurants, Bar, Banquets, and Events.

• Physical Attributes: Two restaurants and bar on the National Register of Historic Places each with a full kitchen. Four + acres of gardens and lawns used during the summer and shoulder season for outdoor events such as weddings, private parties, corporate and political gatherings

• Front of House Staff: 33
• Back of House Staff: 16

• October Beerfest: 2000+ customers for the last 20 years

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Delivers revenues and profits by developing, marketing, financing, and providing appealing restaurant service; managing staff.

General Job Description
We are looking for a professional person to be the second in command in our restaurants, following General Managers specifications and guidelines. The successful candidate will employ managerial skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers satisfaction. The job will entail working all FOH positions as needed, and manage the FOH staff of both restaurants.
Responsibilities

• Manage FOH team to maintain standards of customer service, food quality, guest experience, and employee morale.
• Hiring, training, scheduling
• Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
• Employee evaluation
• Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Requirements

• Ability to Host, Bartend, Serve Tables
• 2 years experience in casual or fine dining restaurant.
• 1+ year of experience as an Assistant Manager or other managerial roles.
• Familiar with industrys best practices
• Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
• BS degree in Hospitality or related certificate would be a plus

Restaurant Assistant General Manager Benefits:

• Salary range $40,000 to $55,000 (Commensurate with experience)
