Job Summary:
The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Clinicians and/or other direct care staff. In addition, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for carrying a caseload (as needed) and providing high quality outpatient therapeutic services to youth, young adults and families.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight and Supervision: 1) Provides weekly individual supervision to staff; 2) Provides group supervision as needed. 3) Assigns cases to clinicians. 4) Supervises the provision of services to participants and their families. 5) Provides field supervision as needed. 6) Provides clinical leadership and consultation to team. 7) Promotes team building and collaborative problem solving among Fred Finch Youth Center staff, parents, county case managers, and other significant people in participant?s life. 8) Hires, supervises, disciplines, and terminates staff, in collaboration with the Program Director. 9) Evaluates staff including the review and certification of clinical documentation skills. 10) Provides training and certification of staff skills congruent with FFYC treatment philosophy, professional conduct, participant care, and documentation.
Clinical Practice: 1) Follows FFYC core values of family centered, strength based and needs driven practice in providing a comprehensive clinical program to participants to include but not limited to . treatment planning, participation in family conferencing when appropriate, provision of individual and collateral therapy, crisis management and coordination of care including working with adjunctive resources such as group home staff, therapeutic behavior service providers, and psychiatrists. 3) Ensures a full therapeutic schedule of participant contact hours based on supervisor directives.
Case Management: 1) Supervises the assessment of needs, the location and arrangement of appropriate referrals of participants as needed. 2) Collaborates with community resources including county workers, courts, professional, vocational development and independent living skills programs, schools, parents and significant others. 3)Communicates and collaborates with key team members (as described above) informed and communicating.
Administration/Documentation: 1) Provides clinical oversight of the program, including the completion or review of treatment plans, mental health progress notes, reports and other documentation in a timely way. 2) Participates in meetings with county staff as needed to authorize continued treatment. 3) Ensures maintenance of participant records in an orderly and timely manner. 4) Utilizes the Electronic Health Record system (s) effectively to complete all clinical documentation. 5) Comprehends and meets all charting and billing deadlines. 6) Adheres to administrative goals. 7) Participates in internal and community based quality assurance as assigned. 8) Verifies all aspects of documentation meet or exceed county, state and federal guidelines. 9) Meets all HIPAA standards in providing PHI to others.
Crisis Response: 1) May participate on a rotating basis in providing on-call coverage in accordance with agency policy. 2) is available to attend meetings on an urgent and on-call basis during scheduled rotation.
Professional Development: 1) Participates in weekly supervision and group supervision meetings as assigned. 2) Maintains current license or waivered status with the BBS. 3) Participates in trainings and provides training as assigned.
Community Leadership: 1) Acts as an emissary for FFYC in every community situation. 2) Participates in community committees and presentations as assigned.
Compliance: 1) Maintains excellent professional boundaries and adheres to all professional ethical standards including abuse reporting, maintenance of participant confidentiality and FFYC. 2) Adheres to all agency and program policies including Boundary Code of Ethics, Core Competencies, Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook and state and federal regulations.
Competencies: 1) Demonstrates knowledge of child/adolescent/young adult development and emotional disorders as relevant to program?s target population. 2) Demonstrates knowledge of individual and family assessments, diagnosis, differential treatment approaches and interventions including intensive case management services. 3) Demonstrates knowledge of documentation standards and capacity to meet documentation expectations. 4) Provides developmentally appropriate treatment services consistent with program model and involving multiple systems planning and coordination.
Other Duties: 1) Participates in other related tasks as needed or directed by the Program Director. 2) May drive on Agency business as required.
Qualifications
Required
  • M.A. Degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed as a CA LCSW/MFT clinician for two (2) years.Or able to meet this requirement within six (6) months if supervising staff who are accruing hours toward licensure from the CA Board of Behavioral Services.
  • Experience with or knowledge of designing, supervising, monitoring, changing, and discontinuing individualized behavioral interventions.
  • Clean driving record and a current CA driver's license or ability to obtain within 10 days after hire.
  • Must be certified to conduct a CANS/ANSA assessment within 90 days of employment if the work assignment is in a County program that requires CANS/ANSA certification.
  • Must have access to dependable transportation available and personal car insurance, unless using agency vehicle.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred
  • One year post-graduate school experience with program target population (Example: intellectually disabled, homeless, teens or young adults, SED).
  • One year experience with program modality (example: school-based, residential, mobile/community-based, assertive community treatment, wraparound, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, triage and organize work.
  • Experience in using a strength-based, culturally competent approach to supervision, participant and community service.
  • Experience with relevant evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-informed approaches).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse families and communities.
  • Experience in effectively using behavioral, crisis management and family/individual/group therapy skills.
  • Fluency in prevailing language(s) of the community services.

  • Possesses the ability to actively participate in and supervise youth's recreational activities, including noncompetitive sports.
  • Must be able to bend, lift as much as 25 lbs, and walk up to a mile at one time.
  • Must be licensed and have the ability and skill to drive cars, vans, or other vehicles.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies, and to learn and implement self-defense maneuvers, and to physically monitor youths to ensure they don't hurt themselves or others. Job may be dangerous if the individual cannot assess and avoid threats posed by youth.
