Job Description: Quality Control Chemist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct analytical activities related to drug product and raw material release testing. Work cross-functionally with internal and external groups to meet cycle time expectations in line with current site Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain accurate documentation and a laboratory environment consistent with laboratory key safe behaviors, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP). Participate in continuous improvement within the Quality organization. Use appropriate techniques and tools such as Lean Six Sigma.

The QC Chemist located in Northridge, CA will be responsible for but not limited to the following specific duties:

* Prepare sample solutions, standards, and reagents.
* Perform wet chemical and instrumental analysis, including Near IR, FTIR, HPLC, UV Spectrophotometer, and Gas Chromatography.
* Analyze in-process and finished products using analytical chemistry methods.
* Assist with equipment qualification and with method crossover.
* Review data for acceptance criteria against specification ranges and report results in LIMS and to laboratory management.
* Assist with laboratory investigations
* Adhere to all department standards for safety and compliance
* Ensure timely completion of all assigned duties


Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
* BS Chemistry or Life Sciences with hands on experience

Preferred Qualifications:
* 1 year minimum Analytical Chemistry bench experience within the Pharmaceuticals or Biotech industry
* Raw material testing experience; familiarity with USP/NF rules and procedures
* Proficiency in: Near IR, FTIR, HPLC & UPLC (Waters Systems and Millennium or Empower software), GC (Agilent), UV, Refractometer, Conductivity meter, Karl Fisher titrator, Titrino autotitrator, TLC.
* Able to keep meticulous records, strong computer skills, ability to use Minitab for data trending
* Good analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of LIMS
* Basic knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts desirable






Position is a support role requiring more work direction whereby worker follows generally defined procedures. Assumes responsibility for conducting assigned, well-defined technical tasks within an area of technical specialty at a project level. Usually reports to a supervisor or senior technical individual. Duties and responsibilities may include interacting with other personnel - principally within the division/staff organization-to develop a network of resources to facilitate completion of assignments. Document experimental-data/observations in technical notebooks (or approved electronic files) and prepares reports to communicate results to the appropriate technical community.
