Applications Technician I located in Charlotte, NC.

Summary:
Responsible for operational capability of Murata MW & MT series Twin Spindle CNC Lathes with integrated 3-axis gantry loaders. Develop work processes and cutting programs. Travel to customer facilities for CPK acceptance runoffs and customer machine operator training and perform machine troubleshooting analysis as required.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
a) Install workholding and cutting tools; e.g., chucks, chuck jaws, tool heads, turning and boring tool
holders, gantry, and turn-around gripper jaws. Chucks will need to be indicated true on spindle and
Balanced. Soft jaws, if used will need to be bored on machine to suite part.
b) Write Fanuc G-code CNC cutting programs per customer part requirements. Must be proficient at
manually writing cutting programs. CAD/CAM experience creating CNC cutting programs is a plus.
c) Setup machine and prove-out cutting programs and tools. Verify part quality and conformance to print
requirements.
d) Optimize cutting processes and gantry automation to achieve required cycle-time, while maintaining
part quality and tool life.
e) Work with Cutting Tool suppliers (e.g., Sandvik, Iscar, Kennametal, Seco Carboloy, etc.) to improve
tool performance, cycle-time reduction, chip-control, and tool-life.
f) Conduct customer machine runoffs. This includes meeting all customer requirements for part cutting,
quality, automatic operation and cycle-time. Provide customer personnel with machine operation and
maintenance training.
g) Travel to customer facilities located in the USA, Canada and Mexico to perform machine runoffs and
operator training as stated in section-f.
h) Maintain project schedules and meet customer deadlines. Must work well under pressure, and tactfully

Requirements:
Associates Degree from two year technical school in Mechatronics or Machining, minimal experience on CNC Metal Cutting machines and turning applications; elementary PC literacy; knowledge of tooling and end user applications, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work with a variety of metal cutting machines and precision measuring instruments. Use of company supplied PC/Laptop to write reports, data spreadsheets and emails. Ability to travel 25% to 50% to customer sites as needed.
