A successful Senior Data Architect will have: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems; or ten plus years of relevant and progressive IT experience;  or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eight + years of data modeling experience, both 3nf and dimensional, using a mainstream data modeling tool, preferably Erwin 9.x or greater
  • Strong SQL and database tuning skills with emphasis on AWS Redshift
  • Personal hands on experience working in Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions
  • Is capable of designing high performing Hadoop HDFS data structures
  • Understands the concepts and details of the Agile software development methodology

 

The Senior Data Architect position on the Internal Applications / EDW team researches and implements refinements and improvements to the overall Data Architectural landscape of the Enterprise Data Warehouse.

 

 Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:  

  • Designs and develops data structures that support high performing and scalable analytic applications on the Teradata and AWS/Redshift platforms
  • Responsible for all metadata relating to the EDW’s overall data architecture, descriptions of data objects, access methods and security requirements
  • Works closely with Data Analysts and Senior ETL staff on the design of database load strategies
  • Mentors more junior Data Modelers on best practices and standards for 3nf and dimensional data modeling
  • Ensures data access and data load performance meets business partner’s requirements
  • Has an understanding of designing Hadoop HDFS data structures is a plus
