Classroom Technologist and Multimedia Events Supervisor
Position Summary
The supervisor provides technical support and leadership for classroom technology, special events, and support activities and initiatives for the institution while being an effective resource for academic purposes.
The supervisor assists in supporting multimedia systems, audio/video equipment, and special events for the institution.
The position also assists in providing consultation with technology vendors for troubleshooting, design, installation, and maintenance of multimedia technology.
The technologist is responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance tasks for classroom technology systems.
The technologist is expected to work with faculty and staff to create an environment of technology empowerment so the user can use technology to its fullest to advance the institution?s mission.
All services are provided in support of academic and administration functions at all WSCC campuses.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities 1.
Supervise classroom technology and special events team members
2. Maintain classroom technology and equipment inventory
3. Provide effective troubleshooting and repair
4. Create and maintain preventative maintenance schedules
5. Design effective technology solutions in cooperation with academic instructors
6. Ability to configure, update, and install classroom technology software
7. Provide supervision over special events including scheduling and staffing
8. Oversee distance education technology and scheduling
9. Work with vendors to design, install, maintain, and repair systems
10. Setup and operate sound and/or video equipment for special events
11. Provide training to classroom instructors
12. Work with faculty members, instructional staff, IET staff and academic administrators to ensure the appropriate support technologies are in place for teaching and learning regardless of the delivery method
13. Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
1. Associate?s degree in technology or related field from a regionally accredited institution with demonstrated job experience relevant to the position.
2. Knowledge of multimedia, audio, and video systems
3. Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required
4. Demonstrated ability to be innovative and apply those skills in supporting users
5. Demonstrated experience with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Outlook, web browsers
6. Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, and ability to focus on essential job functions, prioritize event response, and organizing work in an efficient manner using electronic tools such as ticket systems and project management tools
7. Demonstrated effective independent decision making, and the ability to communicate and work effectively with college faculty, staff, students, general public, and industrial professionals
8. Ability to follow instructions of a moderately complex nature, be attentive to detail and accuracy, and possess excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills to work in a team-oriented environment and deal effectively with faculty, staff, and students
9. Demonstrated self-starter with ability to work with minimum supervision, to establish goals and objectives, produce clear and concise written instructions and reports, to prioritize work to be completed, and to ensure the completion of those tasks
10. Demonstrated good character, mature attitude and judgment, and stable personality with the ability to work with a variety of individuals
11. Demonstrated willingness to work flexible hours and provide after hour emergency support as required
12. Willingness to travel for training and other events related to position and provide the institution with multiple means of contact to ensure your availability to respond to emergencies as quickly as possible
13. A willingness and passion to move new/emerging technologies forward that are consistent with duties as technologies and institutional visions evolve
14. Must develop and maintain vendor relationships in accordance to WSCC and State policies
15. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, must be able to pass a background check, and a valid driver?s license is required and must be maintained
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor?s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
2. Knowledge of Crestron, AMX, or other product programing preferred
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to lift and stack fifty pounds and transport equipment and other items in the normal course of performing duties.
Must be able to drive institutional vehicles.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics
Ability to efficiently manage the functions and details essential to the operations related the position.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written and to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with others.
The successful candidate must also possess the ability to apply logical problem solving skills in an organized and effective manner.
Work Hours This position is normally required to report to work during normal business hours (8:oo am - 4:30 pm).
This position is required to work outside of these normal hours and on weekends during for special events, emergencies, and/or in order to meet institutional deadlines.
