Job Description:
This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing and performing preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment for a salt production facility. Maintenance Mechanic is an IAM Union position
Principal accountabilities:
*
* Maintain, repair, and perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) rounds on processing and packing equipment such as baggers, palletizers, stretch wrappers, screw conveyors, and bucket elevators
* Maintain, repair, and perform PM and PdM rounds on all production equipments such as pumps, fans, centrifuges, piping/valve systems, mobile equipment, tractors, pickups, heavy mobile equipment, conveyors , mixers, and miscellaneous processing equipment etc.
* Learn and utilize precision maintenance craft skills
* Welding skills including stick and MIG welding of carbon and stainless steel and basic fabrication
* Set rigging
Secondary Accountabilities include:
* Read blue prints, understand task symbols, and read operation manuals
* Assist with inventory and parts as needed
* Troubleshoot electrical controls
* PdM skills will be learned and utilized as needed including lubrication, ultrasonic infrared, and vibration
Requirements:
* Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
* Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
* Available and willing to work any shifts/days (including days, swing shift, graveyard, weekdays, weekends, and holidays) and overtime
* Be physically able to perform the job duties including bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights up to 100 feet, lifting up to 50lbs, working in confined spaces, using respirators and working at high temperatures
* Able to work outdoors and in inclement weather
* Able to read/write in English
* Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and
* Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold
* Ability to work in elevated areas
* Must be able to operate machinery
* Must be able to operate heavy equipment
* Must be able to read/write English
* High School diploma or Equivalent
* Basic computer skills
* Minimum two years of experience as a machinist, maintenance mechanic, and/or millwright
* Experience with the standard methods, principles, practices, tools, and equipments in a minimum of three (3) of the following maintenance trades:
o Welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication
o Heavy Mobile Equipment (loaders, backhoes, dozers, etc)
o Gearbox and bearing maintenance
o Automotive Maintenance
o Pump Maintenance (centrifugal, air, positive displacement, vertical)
o General Industrial Maintenance (boilers, air compressors, low-voltage electrical, etc)
o Bulk Handling Equipment (hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, screeners, washers, feeders, bins)
* Demonstrated positive attitude toward/interest in safety and safe work rules
Preferred:
* Technical degree or equivalent, in a maintenance related field
* Experience as a mechanic in an industrial/manufacturing setting
* Experience with predictive maintenance technologies
* Ability to distinguish between proactive and reactive maintenance
* Maintenance experience with material handling equipment (i.e. conveyors, screens, etc.)
* Maintenance experience with agriculture and construction mobile equipment
* Automotive maintenance experience
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of mechanical equipment design and fabrication

Acquire and maintain knowledge of HACCP/OPRP/PRP (GMP) policies and requirements to complete all monitoring and/or verifications tasks as outlined by the Food Safety Management"
