Position Summary:
A distro sorter operator is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the distribution sorter. Individual must have the ability to understand general DC workflow and interpret the daily schedule to anticipate workflow bottlenecks. Operator must utilize strong verbal skills to effectively communicate issues to other departments, DC management, and maintenance. Individual needs strong sense of urgency in problem recognition and resolution.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess start of shift condition of DC through communication with management or previous shift
- Become familiar with daily schedule to anticipate potential workflow bottlenecks or opportunities
- Utilize diagnostic monitor to understand current conditions of conveyors and sorters throughout the DC
- Use MHE system (Dematic) to monitor sorter and conveyor throughput / periodically report data to others
- Constantly monitor reject or recirculation counts and work with others to correct contributing issues
- Aggressively communicate status of distro sorter to other departments
- Work to urgently resolve routine jams with the assistance of maintenance if needed
- Communicate status of workflow to next shift operator
