Manager, Big Data and Platform Engineering - Full-time

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Responsible for the management of software engineering team(s) responsible for creating desired functionality to assigned content, products or services in ecommerce. Manages the development, testing and implementation of software that provides robust technical infrastructure and/or software applications used by business units PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contributing member of a high performing, agile team focused on next generation data & analytic technologies

Contribute to Advanced analytics strategy, ranging from engineering Open source based Big Data analytics tools and developing solutions to meet enterprise needs

Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in technology communities and act as an internal mentor to users of these platforms

Experience working on Hadoop and real-time analytics frameworks

Utilize programming languages like Java, Spark and Python with an emphasis in tuning, optimization and best practices for application developers

Develop and deploying distributed computing Big Data applications using Open Source frameworks like Apache Spark, Apex, Flink, Storm, NIFI and Kafka

Hands-on experience integrating open source components into data-analytic solutions

Experience building data ingestion and ETL patterns using Spark and other Open source frameworks

Proficient with Cloud technologies and concepts

Experience developing junior and experienced engineers/technicians

Build a culture of learning and innovation with the ability to learn new data technology practices

Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to require standards and processes

QUALIFICATIONS required

• 7+ years’ experience in real-time services and big data development in Java or Python
• 3+ years’ experience managing engineers and architects
• Strong experience in technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Impala, HDFS, Flume, Kafka, Spark etc.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving, growing and dynamic environment
• Ability to lead influence others and find creative solutions and move quickly to deliver them
• Ability to collaborate with team members throughout the process and consult with other project teams on the design and use of enterprise data
• Strong analytical skills with a data driven approach and ability to measure impact of project
• Strong experience and ability to demonstrate advanced proficiency, in building web services and processing real-time data
• Exceptional communication skills and desire to educate others about our data and how to access it
