What Will You Be Doing?
The Big Data Software Engineering role is part of the Kohl’s Menomonee Falls Big Data engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as Hadoop , Tableau , Unica , and Informatica . You will be using your critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and must be able to work independently as well as be part of a highly collaborative team. This includes engaging with IT leadership, leading teams and being an influencer across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Serving as a core member of an engineering team that designs and develops software applications using Java and BigData Ecosystem Technologies
Writing code and unit tests, automation, and conducting code reviews and testing
Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges
Develop advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards and other BI solutions
Responsible for identifying and communicating design and scope issues to the stakeholders
Conduct design reviews and oversee QA functions for the information delivery applications, including ensuring that system and integration test plans are developed and executed
Work with Data Architecture team to help design database entities adhering to best practices
Work with product managers to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and managing a list of technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues

What We’re Looking For:
3+ years of hands-on Big Data and Software Development experience
Experience in Spring framework specifically the following:
Core
JMS
JPA
Spring Batch
Web
Experience working with Gradle and Maven
3 + Years of hands-on experience on Big Data technologies using MapReduce , Pig , Spark , Hive , Kafka , Sqoop , Python
Ability to differentiate file formats in Hadoop
Experience with Hive tuning
Ability to join data sets in Pig
Demonstrated experience using Sqoop
Demonstrated experience using MapReduce
Proficient with relational databases like Netezza/Teradata
Proficient with performance techniques in large scale Data Warehouses and Analytics
2+ years of hands-on experience of ETL tools, specifically Informatica and related technologies
Demonstrated experience in Agile development, application design, software development, and testing
Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners
Experience on cloud-based technologies is desired
Knowledge on DevOps process is a plus
Knowledge on Loyalty, Marketing and Campaign Management in a retail industry is a plus.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently + Strong team collaboration skills
