A manufacturing company headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita is searching for a CNC Machine Operator / Programmer. This individual Machinist produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a CNC machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. This is a temp to hire position and the pay is $25 to $35 an hour, based on experience. Once hired, the company offers a very competitive employee benefits package.

- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; trimming heads.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Set up CNC equipment without supervision.
- Ensure department standards for safety, quality and quantity are met.
- Perform first part inspections
- Identify root causes and corrective action for quality problems.
- Utilize measuring equipment used in the industry such as calipers, micrometers, height gauge and other measuring equipment needed to complete work.
- Utilize production work orders and documents.
- Ensure all documentation is complete and correct.
- Use prescribed procedures to inspect part(s) and product(s) produced to assure compliance to specifications that will eliminate defects, scrap, rework, etc.
- Ensure part(s) meet customer quality requirements.
- Detect and report defective equipment, materials and/or faulty operations to supervisor.
- Maintain equipment and work area on a daily basis in a clean and orderly condition.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance.
- Skill in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction and decimals)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Skill in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and other inspection gauges
- Skill in reading and interpreting documents such as work orders, drawings, internal and customer specifications, manuals, and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of 5s and lean concepts and ability to help move forward with achieving department goals is a plus.
- Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
- Ensure all equipment, tools, and work station are in good working order and is free of safety hazards
- Report any and all workplace hazards to management immediately
- Wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
- Report all work related injuries, illnesses, and/or near misses to management immediately
- Keep all work area/station in compliance with our housekeeping guidelines
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, such as keeping floors swept and absent of debris that may be a work hazard
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with CNC machining, aerospace drawings, and
- specifications or equivalent education/experience required
- Able to read and write work instructions and procedures in English
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Able to communicate effectively with other employees
