PrideStaff is searching for a Quality Engineer for their Hudson-based client. This person will assist the Quality Manager in maintaining compliance of the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System to applicable ISO standards, as well as customer requirements and company standards. This person is also responsible for assuring consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing effective work systems, validating processes, and providing clear documentation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Interact with customers to insure that customer requirements are understood and are met, and to resolve any customer complaints.
  • Perform all aspects of PPAP development including Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, IMDS submissions, dimensional checking, performance testing and other activities as required.
  • Interact with other company departments to insure compliance of product with customer requirements, and to help resolve production quality issues.
  • Understand the requirements of international standards such as ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001, and communicate them within the company. Drive the implementation of practices and procedures to insure that the company is in compliance with these standards.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing quality and production data.
  • Act as an internal resource to other departments by providing technical expertise on quality, statistical, and fastener subjects including: quality standards, fastener standards, APQP, PPAP, structured problem solving (8D), Drill-Deep-Wide, SPCS, MSA, DOE, LEAN, etc.
  • Act as leader or facilitator for improvement or problem-solving teams
  • Prepare work instructions.
  • Lead the Fast-Response team meetings.
  • Use the company MRP system to research lot traceability information and to effectively track or quarantine parts when necessary.
  • Work with suppliers, vendors and service providers to insure that the company quality requirements are met.
  • Conduct QMS/EMS audits, internal product audits, and supplier audits. Report audit results and follow up on any corrective actions. Interact with outside auditors during 3 rd party and customer audits.
  • Use customer and 3 rd party computer systems and web sites to insure the effective transfer of quality-related information between the company and its customers and suppliers.
  • Update job knowledge by studying trends and developments in quality management, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Behave in a safe and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain a cooperative attitude toward other employees and keep a mind-set that always considers the best long-term interests of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The following qualifications are preferred; equivalent experience will be considered, and on-the-job or external training will be provided to address weak areas:
  • 4-year technical degree
  • ASQ, 6-Sigma or Lean Certification
  • Understanding of fasteners, fastener manufacturing, fastener testing, and fastener dimensional and performance standards
  • Supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or ISO/TS 16949, and ISO 14001
  • Experience with basic measurements tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Experience with automotive PPAP’S (Flow diagram, FMEA, Control Plan)
  • Experience developing work instructions or inspection plans
  • Understanding of the “process approach” to auditing
  • Understanding of structured problem solving (8D, DMAIC, 5-WHY, Drill-Dee-And-Wide)
  • Experience dealing with customer complaints and demanding customer representatives
  • Experience dealing with supplier issues
  • Able to routinely interact, in a professional manner, with customers, suppliers, and other company departments
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
