The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is an agency within theUnited States Department of Defense and is the official Combat Support Agency for countering weapons of mass destruction (Chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high explosive). DTRA's main functions are threat reduction, threat control, combat support, and technology development. The agency is headquartered in Fort belvoir, Va.Engility has been supporting DTRA for several years in their critical mission and continue to provide multiple levels of Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) positions. The Nuclear Effects Subject Matter Expert is critical to the success and Engility is looking for highly qualiifed candidates to fill the position. The Job Despcription includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Provide Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Nuclear Effects Office.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to direct innovative research related to planning for military operations in a nuclear environment, and the consequences of low-altitude nuclear detonations on political, military, economic, social, infrastructure and information (PMESII).
  • Analyze technical approaches to meeting operational requirements for nuclear effects targeting and filling capability gaps, and develop research strategy to close these gaps.
  • Support development of program plans for nuclear effects technology areas.
  • Actively engage and assist with the Nuclear Effects Office research performed by national labs, academia, and industry.
  • Provide technical advice to other related programs inside and, when appropriate, outside the office.
  • Collaborate as a member of the Nuclear Effects Office and advise on/support the projects of the other program managers.
  • Direct research, as needed, to improve the capability of U. S. DoD to analyze the consequences of a low-altitude nuclear detonation.
  • Assist with acquisition actions, including MIPRs with DoD performers, IACROs with other Federal agencies, contracts with industry, and grants with academia.
  • Respond to inter-agency, DoD, and DTRA taskers; participate in interagency meetings.
  • Coordinate and lead meetings as required.
  • Assist the Nuclear Effects Office Chief with programmatics and administration as needed.
Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline plus 7+ years of relevant experience. In lieu of an advanced degree, significant experience in nuclear effects technology and targeting policy will be considered.
  • Experience with nuclear targeting and planning for military operations in a nuclear environment.
  • Proven ability to translate requirements and observations into clearly defined written products (briefings, reports, White Papers) in short time-frames.
  • Must be able to complete work with minimum guidance and supervision. looking for a self-starter and highly motivated individual.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and able to work iat a senior level as a part of a Joint military staff.
  • Must be skilled in using personal computer and standard office automation systems (e. g., Microsoft Office).
  • Travel is required (10% to 25%).

Clearance Requirement:

  • Active/current Secret clearance is required. The applicant must have the ability to obtain SCI access
Desired Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with DoD, other Federal Agencies, Industry, and National Laboratories.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex technical projects and/or programs.
  • Familiarity with the DoD acquisition process.
