Job Description:

Responsible to maintain the kitchen and surrounding areas in a clean and sanitary manner by following the cleaning schedules and adhering to the Health & Hygiene Regulations and Company policy and procedures.

Essential Duties

  • Clean, transport and store all pots and pans used in the food and beverage operations and maintain the pots and pans room in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Check equipment daily to ensure they are in good working condition and promptly report any defects/malfunctions to the Stewarding Supervisor.
  • Assist in the set up and break down of service areas for all special functions.
  • Cleans stoves, ovens, grills, refrigerators, and using cleaning solutions, brushes and wash cloths.
  • Washes utensils, such as pots, pans, and trays by hand using cleaning detergents. Washes dishware, glasses, and cutlery by hand or machine. Occasionally polishes utensils. Drains dries and stacks items after washing.
  • Cleans and maintains floors and walls in kitchen and dish washing area.
  • Collects and removes trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures.
  • Dispose of waste as per the hotel standards and Adhere to recycling guidelines.
  • Ensure waste bin area is kept clean and tidy.
  • Liaise with the Stewarding Supervisor or Kitchen Supervisor on duty for specific instructions/requests.
  • Carry out duties as assigned, also refer to cleaning schedules and perform the necessary duties.
  • Assist culinary staff during any special request or priorities as requested by the Executive Chef or Culinary Leaders.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in similar role preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency to operate industrial dish washers.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift up to 50 lbs., including, but not limited to, pots and pans and trays of food or food items, on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Ability to converse comfortably with team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.
