Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Executive Sous Chef.

In this role, the successful candidate plans and executes menus for Patient Food and specified venues/events. Coordinates, plan and schedule activities of all culinary personnel in accordance to departmental needs. Maintains inventory and orders all food products needed. Coordinates kitchen operations with those of Executive Chef, Catering/Retail Management and Patient Services Management.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
  • Leads the team in the preparation of all menu items for the Patient menu and all special events ensuring that all products are prepared and presented on time according to very high standards.
  • Assumes the Executive Chefs responsibilities in his absence.
  • Maintains open professional communications with all departments and subunits. Works with the Director of Operations, Executive Chef, Catering Managers and clients to plan details of all special events from initial stages through cleanup.
  • Supervises kitchen staff including interviewing and hiring, scheduling, training, counseling and disciplining. Works closely with Human Resources and the Food Service Human Resources Manager.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary and orderly kitchen compliant with all HACCP and JCAHO standards.
  • Ensures that staff receives required in-service training and is trained in proper use and maintenance of all equipment and work spaces in the area. Assists in the training of Service Personnel. Assures own continuing education and training.
  • Ensures that a minimum of 1/3 of all performance evaluations are completed on schedule and that all employees receive annual health assessments.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have an Associates degree in Culinary Management, or Culinary Arts, and four-year experience in a large-scale operations in high end Hotel/Catering, Restaurant or healthcare food service. Excellent communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Food and/or Nutrition or Culinary Arts, with 5 years expansive managerial experience in large-scale operations in high end Hotel/Catering Restaurant or healthcare food service. Excellent communication skills required.
