The Kiln Attendant manually loads and unloads tile for the firing process. The Kiln Attendant also performs periodic quality checks of the fired tile.

Major Functions and Scope:

  • Loads greenware into the kilns per loading schedule.

  • Unloads fired tile from setters into bins.

  • Transport fired tile from kiln to staging area for shipping.

  • Maintains kiln cars and makes minor adjustments as necessary.

  • Performs quality checks on kiln as required.

  • Monitors equipment or processes and reports problems to supervisor.

  • Follows standard operating and safety procedures.

  • Keeps area safe, clean and organized.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education and Knowledge:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year prior manufacturing experience.

  • Prior experience working in a kiln environment preferred.

Competencies:

  • Good oral and written communications skills.

  • Good record keeping skills.

  • Good listening skills.

  • Accurate measurement capability.

  • Ability to understand and speak basic English.

  • Ability to work in a safe and conscientious manner.

  • Ability to differentiate between colors.

  • Ability to work independently.
