The Westin Atlanta Perimeter North is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Houseperson to join our team and assist our Rooms and Housekeeping Department!
POSITION PURPOSE
Under general supervision, clean, maintain, and supply prescribed areas according to established standards of cleanliness.
DUTIES
-Promote excellent guest/associate rapport by responding and completing all requests promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
-Clean all assigned areas in accordance with the established standards of cleanliness.
-Answer communication devices promptly.
-Acknowledge and turn in daily task assignment sheet upon completion with Lead's signature.
-Pick up and deliver supplies and other items upon request.
-Assist with all general cleaning and rehabilitation projects, as directed.
-Report all floor/carpet care needs to the housekeeping office.
-Report all repair needs to the housekeeping management.
-Maintain all public and back of the house areas as assigned.
-Remove all trash and linen from room attendant cart throughout the day and empty cart at the end of the shift so that no linen or trash is in the carts at the end of shift.
-Stock all linen closets with proper inventory.
-Stock all supplies with proper inventory.
-Sweep and mop back landings, stairwells, and closets regularly and remove all contraband.
-Clean corridors, mirrors, tables, baseboards, signage, walls and fire boxes.
-Vacuum and edge hallways.
-Sweep, mop around and wipe down ice machines on all floors and report any maintenance issues in the system.
-Ensure the guest corridor floors are kept clean and free of debris at all times. Ensure no linen and/or dishes on assigned corridors.
-Ensure all closets and chute rooms on guest floors remain closed throughout the day.
-Assist with transporting deliveries to the storerooms.
-Take responsibility for all chemicals and equipment assigned.
-Participate in the promotion of safety and security in assigned work area.
-Support work efforts of other Housekeeping associates as directed (including stripping rooms when needed).
-Complete all assigned projects in a timely manner.
-Follow appropriate standards of conduct, hygiene, uniforms and appearance.
-Represent the hotel with professionalism and decorum.
-Collect and clean dirty mugs and glasses and put them back in their designated closets.
-Assist room attendants to achieve target productivity.
-Attends all required Housekeeping Department and other meetings.
-Respond to Guest service requests.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
-Must be able to understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
-Requires good verbal communication skills.
-Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
-Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
-Ability to use all cleaning equipment and chemicals.
-Represent the company in a professional, well-groomed and courteous manner.
-Physical stamina to complete manual labor tasks.
-Ability to work under pressure and varied shifts.
-Understands reports and related correspondence and accurately performs all essential job functions.
-Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
-Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
-Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis, and sometimes up to 150 lbs..
-Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
-The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions, one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin fumes, odors, dusts, gases or airborne particles.
-Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
-Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch frequently to fulfill cleaning tasks.
-Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis, frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
-Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
-Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
-Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
-Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
-High school or equivalent education preferred.
-Previous housekeeping experience preferred
-Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
-All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Starwood standards.
-Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
-Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
