QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in aviation-related discipline; MS Degree preferred
  • Tilt rotor piloting, operations, and maintenance experience.
  • FAA instructor pilot experience, rotary wing or tilt rotor experience.
  • Instructional system design experience
  • Civil aircraft operations experience / commercial helicopters or V-22 tilt rotor experience preferred
Licenses/Certification
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate including Powered-Lift Category
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor/Instrument
  • EASA ATPL preferred
  • Valid FAA Class Medical as applicable to the Certificate
  • Summary of Position:
  • Overall responsibility for developing, implementing, and managing pilot training program. Transition into role as Chief Instructor Pilot.
  • Responsible for FAA and EASA certification of training programs and ensuring aircraft type design and certification program include deliverables required for training certification.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in tiltrotor training/operations for advocating AW609 interests to industry and regulatory agencies.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop training material in accordance with Instructional System Design methodology and serve as lead training pilot including ground school briefings and Familiarization courses to program stakeholders and transition into role as Chief Instructor Pilot. After type certification perform flight training activities on both aircraft and FFS
  • Prepare and manage the training and operational elements of CSS plan while coordinating and making best use of (FHD) CS&T; infrastructure and resources.
  • Interface with airworthiness authorities (FAA in particular) to ensure that training program, are approved and synchronized to the Functional and Reliability (F&R;) demonstration phase of the certification program.
  • Coordinate with IDTs and global supply chain, including CSS disciplines to ensure design and certification program is aligned with training program objectives.
  • Manage development and certification of Full Flight Simulator.
  • Serve as tilt rotor pilot training/CSS Subject Matter Expert participating in industry and regulator committees to ensure infrastructure best accommodates entry- into-service.
  • Support development of a talented and high-performing pilot instructor team including recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Teach initial familiarization courses for Authorities and FHD personnel and potential customers
  • Review Training and operational regulation to ensure Tilt rotor coverage and work with Authorities to have required regulation change when required
