Description Standard Qualifications: We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Women's Health Unit at Johnston-Willis Hospital. The Womens Health Unit at Johnston-Willis Hospital is a 15 bed gynecological medical surgical unit. Most of our patients are post-operative surgical, with 50% of the unit made up of gynecological oncology patients. The robotics program on the unit is robust; we are proud that Johnston-Willis Hospital has been named a da Vinci Center of Excellence. Our compassionate and committed Registered Nurses are skilled in caring for patients who are experiencing womens health conditions and who are undergoing or recovering from both surgical and non-invasive procedural procedures. Our patients average length of stay is 4 days. The pace on the unit is fast; on a typical day we might start with 15 patients, discharge 10, and get 10 more in from the OR that same day. Patient nurse ratio is 4:1 on the unit. The Womens Health clinical team consists of a mix of new graduates who have completed our renowned StaRN Nurse Residency Program and who are still in orientation, to tenured nurses who have been on the unit 30+ years. The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Women's Health Unit performs care under the direction of the unit Nursing Leadership Team and the Director. The Registered Nurse: Responsible for clinical management of the patient. Functions as a Registered Nurse by role-modeling professional behavior. Functions as a Charge Nurse/Resource Nurse. Assures satisfaction of customers (patients, visitors, physicians and staff). Participates in and understands Quality Management activities. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Demonstrates understanding of hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Promotes cost-effective unit operations. Documents nursing care utilizing the appropriate tools. Maintains competencies in clinical areas and is responsible for professional growth and development. Complies with professional, regulatory, governmental and departmental standards. Patient Rights - Works to support and protect the rights of each patient served, treats each patient with dignity and care, and maintains patient confidentiality/privacy. Patient Safety Demonstrates commitment to patient safety initiatives including patient falls, medication safety, National Patient Safety Goals, critical value reporting, and administration of blood products.
