Business Unit Summary The Planning team is responsible for ensuring HSN has the right amount of product for our customers to buy. It must be priced right, placed and promoted to maximize sales potential while minimizing inventory risk. Our Planning team makes sure we provide the customer with a great shopping experience any time she is shopping with us. The Merchant and Planner collaborate to tell the product stories on all of our shopping platforms, while being flexible, responsive and agile in presenting the right products that will meet consumer expectations and provide the best in quality, value and experience. A Day in the Life Show Planner will partner with Planning leads, Merchants and Merchandise Planners to identify and communicate opportunities for overnights. They will make decisions through the analysis of sales, gross profit and item productivity along with the merchandising vision. The Show planner will execute this vision through thoughtful and creative show writing. Writing shows 72 96 hours out attaining net sales and margin plans Review and react to daily sales trend Meeting weekly with Merchandise Teams to discuss status of upcoming shows Able to creatively write cross-divisional, mixed shows Exhibits an understanding and application of show writing techniques using SPT tool that will create exciting and productive shows for the customer. Understands and formulates strategies for business review with team: markdowns, flex pay, and seasonality of products. Must Haves: Minimum of 3 years experience and/or BS/BA in related field varied allocation/distribution knowledge Understanding of the merchandising process and product lifecycle A working knowledge of the open to buy reports Demonstrates strong communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal, and written. Able to speak with confidence and conviction in a concise manner. Demonstrates strong decision making skills with an ability to translate findings from analysis into a business strategy; including reading and reacting to the business. Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook. Able to create documents and spreadsheets: formulas, links, graphs, charts, pivot tables, etc. Exhibits proficient analytical skills and understands basic and advanced retail math. Exhibits an understanding of basic negotiating skills Ability to work in a team/collaborative environment that allows for flexibility based on the needs of the business.
