Position Summary: Under general supervision the Cardiac Step-Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Grand Strand Medical Center. In collaboration with the patient, the patients family and other members of the health care team. The Cardiac Step-Down Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates treatment plans. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* *1 Performs and documents total physical assessment for patients within unit Scope of Care. *2 Analyzes pertinent data, communicates findings and documents information. *3 Utilizes equipment and performs special procedures competently as related to unit Scope of Care. *4 Organizes and prioritizes nursing care for a unit specific patient assignment. *5 Administers all medications utilizing the 5 rights to medication administration. *6 Initiates and documents patient teaching and discharge planning including family and/or significant other in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members. *7 Acquires and maintains current knowledge pertinent to nursing practice in Cardiac Care. *8 Communicates effectively with peers, supervisors, ancillary department and other customers.
