About this job
Essential Functions:
Provide for the care of animals, relating to animal health and environmental conditions. Includes training and assisting numerous volunteers. Daily maintenance of animals including careful food preparation and cleaning and sanitization of housing and facilities. Receives, identifies and cages newly arrived animals and keeps simple records. Transfers or transports animals, feed and bedding materials. Cleans cages, pens and animal quarters. Prepares or mixes feed according to specific instructions and feeds and waters animals. Prepares and uses dips, sprays, detergents and disinfectants.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Required qualificationsHigh school graduation or GED. Three years of experience in care and handling of animals. Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences substitutes for up to four years of the AMOUNT of experience above. However, the KIND of experience is required. Fifteen undergraduate hours substitute for six months of experience, up to three and one-half years. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsPrefer experience capturing and taking care of wild animals that are injured or abandoned. Previous experience as an Animal Attendant I a plus.
