SUMMARY


The primary purpose of the Animal Resources Support Attendant position is to provide daily laundry services to areas within the department of Veterinary Sciences. This position will also provide animal facilities support for the animal resources programs including participating in weekend and holiday rotations and may work overtime as authorized by the Supervisor. This position impacts facility efficiency and animal care operations.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Laundry Services for the Animal Resources Programs
Provides laundry services for the animal resources programs. This includes collection of soiled laundry from animal care and laboratory areas; washing, drying and sorting laundry by area; and delivery of clean laundry to the animal care and laboratory areas. As needed, launders Administration building kitchen linens and provides other housekeeping support.

Laundry Facility Maintenance
Provides routine maintenance and cleaning of industrial clothes washers and dryers in the laundry facility. Orders supplies and cleaning materials required for the operation of the laundry facility. Understands and follows instructions on chemical and detergent labels and dispenses the proper amount/dilution for laundry washers. Responsible for general laundry facility cleaning and sanitation.

Animal Facilities Support As directed, performs animal husbandry/cage sanitation tasks in animal resources areas.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Certification: American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Assistant Animal Laboratory Technician certification.

Experience: One year commercial facility cleaning experience to include six months operating/maintaining commercial laundry equipment.

Preferred Experience:
Experience with the operation and maintenance of industrial clothes washers/dryers. Experience in animal husbandry.
