About this job

Initiating the start of the customer relationship and serving as the first contact with the Home Office, this position makes telephone calls to applicants to verify all benefits applied for, payment information and all medical history. This position works in a fast-paced environment obtaining and providing accurate and detailed information using exemplary customer service skills to gain the customer s trust and confidence while meeting production requirements to ensure timely service.

Key Job Functions:

  • Make outbound calls and take inbound transferred calls in order to complete the telephone verification of the application
  • Collect accurate and detailed health history information and determine if additional information is needed
  • Accurately document the verification call system with all information collected from the applicant
  • Determine which verification script to use which includes: full verification, express verification and verification of applications without signatures
  • Confirm benefits applicant has applied for
  • Gather or confirm payment information, mode and method of payment
  • Complete calls to the applicant as requested by Underwriting Department to gather additional information
  • Communicate with agent to gather additional phone numbers to contact applicants or notify agents if applicant request agent to contact them
  • Qualifications:

    A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience required

    Bilingual very strongly preferred

    Insurance knowledge a plus

    Ability to:

    Effectively work with individuals inside and outside company

    Smoothly adjust to changing workload and procedures

    Knowledge of basic office procedures and office equipment

    Excellent spelling, grammar, communication skills, and phone etiquette
