SodexoMAGIC at Roanoke City Public School seeks talented culinarian - Executive Chef to join our operations team. Ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background with extensive catering experience. District is a K-12 with 26 school sites. Programs at the unit include Breakfast, CACFP, National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and catering. Ideal candidate will have a culinary background and also experience managing hourly employees.

Reporting to the General Manager, the ideal Executive Chef candidate will possess:

  • 3+ years of culinary management experience, preferably within a campus setting.

  • Passion for food and innovation.

  • Proven culinary skills; culinary degree helpful but not required.

  • Hands-on leadership style.

  • Strong understanding of HACCP, food safety and sanitation.

  • A skilled management style in leading, mentoring and training a diverse workforce.

  • Proven track record of achieving positive employee engagement.

  • Financial acumen as it relates to food and labor costs/controls.

  • Experience in Sodexos Food Management System (FMS) (preferred).

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training. Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.

Key Duties

  • Implements & coordinates the culinary function.

  • Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.

  • Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.

  • Manages catering & retail areas.

  • Customer & Client satisfaction.

  • Financial management to include food cost & labor management.

  • Manages food & physical safety programs.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
