JOB SUMMARY

Assists in managing the property's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) performance. Verifies network availability to all system users and timely responsiveness to maintenance needs and user requirements. Establishes and implements policies, procedures, and standards to verify overall network reliability within Corporate IT guidelines. Oversees the daily activities of and manages the performance of the Network/Desktop staff. Partners with the Director of Information Technology to develop capital and operating budgets for the network and desktop group. Manages the network and desktop group expenditures. Verifies that security procedures are implemented and followed. Partners with the security department to provide required information security. Evaluates vendor products to provide enhanced network system performance. Presents business justification to Senior Management for vendor product purchases and serves as the primary point of contact for all property network and desktop vendors. Manages and maintains all network software and hardware. Provides troubleshooting as needed. Recommends new or improved desktop software for property staff. Manages the fulfillment of technology sales for convention clients and guest rooms.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related major; 4 years’ experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or related professional area.

OR

• 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related major; certified trainer; 2 years’ experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related professional area.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Managing Projects and Policies

• Assists in managing the property’s local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) performance. Verifies network availability to all system users and timely responsiveness to maintenance needs and user requirements.

• Verifies efficiency of application performance through proper allocation of system resources. Verifies disciplines required of application software.

• Oversees and/or coordinates all projects involving network and desktop resources.

• Interviews, selects and trains employees.

• Provides for the safety and security of the employees or the property.

• Monitors employee attendance and records absences/tardiness.

• Helps direct supervisors to achieve their own development goals.

• Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
