About this job

General overview:

Satisfy our customer's needs by designing customized motion and machine safety solutions.

Primary Duties:

* Understand and implement the EU Machinery Directives, and OSHA Standards
* Support the sales process by working through specification's for project quotes as specified by Outside Sales
* Develop approval models for customer review.
* Communicate and resolve specification issues during the quoting process.
* Support the Outside Sales Person or Specialist with design information or other data required to support customer's requirements.
* Accountable for all aspects of the design process.
* Working from existing designs, develop the model required to develop shop prints, release a project to shop floor (shop drawings, BOM construction and release, component information, specification, etc.).
* Develop detailed design models and motion and/or safety solution specifications.
* Complete mathematical calculations, develop and design detailed specifications, evaluate materials, assemblies, components for strength\FEA.
* When possible, design with internal fabrication and machining capabilities to optimize utilization of the company's dedicated machining capacity.
* Provide required specifications to purchasing for purchased systems, etc., partner with supply chain personnel to resolve supply issues for machine build and parts sales.
* Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
* Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
* Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.

Prepare schematics, outline drawings and Bill of Materials required for manufacturing utilizing Quotation documents and specifications for hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and electronic systems. Coordinate with Purchasing and Manufacturing to have components and documentation available on schedule. Act as a technical resource for Manufacturing.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Ability to read and understand mechanical CAD drawings and BOM's.
* Act as lead liaison for systems which require Integration of Multiple disciplines.
* Ability to learn and use the project management tools of Apogee to create item BOM's.
* Create 3D CAD based models of mechanical framed assemblies and corresponding 2D drawings.
* Knowledge of Automation Systems for Industrial Applications.
* Store and retrieve technical documents within Autodesk Vault.
* Follow company technical standards for design and engineering.
* Maintain professional working relations with Associates, Vendors, and Customers
