Health & Safety Coordinator

Job Description:

• Safety knowledge required, experience preferred but not a must
• Work with different departments to make sure master contractor activity schedule is current and accurate
• Data input into our safety database (database is in Microsoft access)
• Conduct safety orientation
• Post safety signage around the facility - climbing ladders, using lifts and hand tools may be required.
• Anything that needs training, will be training employees on
• File set-up and maintenance for temporary employees
• Spend time walking on floor making safety observations and reporting deficiencies to area supervisor or site safety supervisor depending on the issue
• Responsible for contractor safety & support. Will provide the oversight.
• Assist in creation and posting of emergency exit routes and gathering areas
• Serve as a liaison to the safety manager in terms of communication regarding site activities, progress and needs
• Conduct audits of contractors working inside/outside of the building
• Conduct weekly safety toolbox talks with contractors
• Conduct daily safety check-ins with contractors
• Assist in logging contractor activity/presence on site
• Assist in setting up security
• Assist in setting up first aid facilities
• Assist in setting up fire extinguisher/fire suppression facilities with contractors
• Issue daily hot work permits
• Other tasks as appropriate

Work Environment: Large manufacturing facility located in Wooster. Undergoing construction re-model. Once re-model is completed, facility will be very clean/modern.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing/construction capacity
• 5+ years of experience working with Health and Safety procedures
• Ability walk/stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• OSHA construction and general industry regulations
• Willing to work OT and weekends as needed
