Position Expectations
- Develop and Implement Safety Programs, Systems, and Standards
- Conduct initial analysis of work place hazards and create an action plan to increase our OSHA compliance.
- Stay up to date on all annual OSHA regulatory changes, and implement all needed enhancement to our current safety practices and standards.
- Identify safety-training needs and work with Director of HR and training to address.
- Attend Insurance Captive Risk Control Workshop annually .
- Ensure proper PPE is available.
- Conduct monthly inspection of fire extinguishers / emergency lighting for office and fabrication areas
- Conduct office onboarding facility Safety tours.
- Evaluate Safety Practices and Compliance
- Conduct semi-annual safety inspections of all Crew locations and Support Team office.
- Conduct semi-annual safety inspections of fabrication facility
- Conduct safety inspection of all construction sites.
- Follow-up on all areas for improvement with location managers or facility managers and maintain 30 day correction schedule.
- Complete safety portion of General Manager bi-annual performance appraisal.
- Investigate Accidents and Formulate Preventive Game Plan
- Investigate any injury to Team Members or customers and identify cause or and how it may have been prevented - performing a root cause analysis. Utilize Accident Investigation Checklist.
- Develop action plans to prevent injuries or accidents in the future.
- Communicate accident details and game plan for prevention to all Crew personnel including safety alerts, safety warnings, and Crew Tube segments.
- Maintain all Safety Records
- Maintain all required OSHA records.
- Ensure that all necessary IDOT records are kept on required company vehicles.
- Evaluate all injuries and determine how they should be recorded.
- Maintain all MSDS records and update as needed.
- Maintain accident reports equal to OSHA 301s.
- Facilitate Safety Incentive Program
- Promote the Safety Incentive Program with all Team Members.
- Ensure locations receive credit for points earned.
- Award Safest Location award at associate dinner.
- Ensure Environmental Compliance
- Maintains required regulatory permits and renewals.
- Collects, documents, and reports compliance metrics with third party (currently Safe Metrics)
- Verifies scheduled cleaning of water/oil separators.
- Addresses and/or coordinates efforts to address environmental issues identified in external audits, inquiries, and/or inspections
- Coordinate annual Pit Discharge testing.
- Coordinate boiler and air compressor inspections with Travelers insurance.
- Maintain Safety Manual and Safety Communication Materials
- Maintain Safety section of Procedures Guide.
- Ensure location safety manuals are maintained
- Ensure proper assignment of Location Safety Manager at each location.
- Lead the Safety Workgroup
- Facilitate Location Safety Manager Conference Calls.
- Supply all locations with needed safety related materials and update as needed. (i.e. Posters, labels, signs,)
- Coordinate Workers Compensation Cases -
- Work directly with GallagherBassett Insurance Adjusters, NCMs, Drs., and PTs
- Enter all injuries into the GB data base.
- Ensure the best and most effective treatment is administered to the injured team member
- Cautiously expedite their return to full work status.
- Publish W/C documents for Staff level Management.
- Support Area Director -
- OPEX changes, updates, additions.
- Operational Excellence Evaluations changes, updates, additions
- VISWG administrative assistance.
- Detergent safety
10) Safety Coordinator Productivity and Priorities -
In order to ensure the success and effectiveness of the safety Coordinator position, there we will be structuring the position in this fashion:
- 5/15 Reports The Safety Coordinator will complete a 5/15 report each week, highlighting their safety related activities. This report will go to Director of Human Resources.
- Work Schedule
- Safety Coordinator will work in this position five days per week, unless PTO time is used.
- Typically Safety Coordinator works 45 hours per week, but may need to work more to meet the needs of the team or address emergency issues.
