Wholesome Foods Mid-Atlantic Kitchen is looking for an individual that has an extensive culinary background but also food manufacturing expertise. This person needs to be able to convert any small batch recipe into a sustainable large production batch. Requirements also include understanding the process of how HACCP, equipment, layout, scheduling, and ingredients all play a role in production. This person needs to have a global perspective and see the daily process from start to finish. This person needs to be able to anticipate and address any potential issue that could arise. They must be extremely organized and efficient in all of his or her tasks in order to handle multiple projects at a time.

Production Team Leader

This Individual would report directly to the Facility Team Leader. This individual would foster a very strong working relationship with the Director of Product Management to support the R&D process regarding the R&D process and would be an active member of the WFMAK HACCP team.

Areas of responsibility:
  • Supervises and develops team members in the manufacture and packaging of food products to ensure safety, quality and productivity.
  • Adhere to final budgets and lowering of food and execution costs.
  • Monitors and ensures efficiency of operations.
  • Supports facility and department in Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Executes existing production schedule and makes adjustments as necessary to produce products within specifications.
  • Oversees and insures all relevant shift documentation for quality, safety, cost and team members.
  • Reviews all food safety data and provides oversight to incoming raw material quality and finished products.
  • Assists in developing improvements of facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, cost and efficiency.
  • Oversees / conducts new and existing team member training.
  • Able to operate all facility software systems including (CorTec, ComplianceMate, Labels, etc.)
  • Works closely with the QA leader to help develop, update and maintain procedures and documentation for all Quality and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HAACP) systems, SOP’s and GFSI certification and any other related systems and procedures.
  • Assists with the Master Sanitation Schedule and may act as the Pest Control Liaison in the QA’s absence.
  • Provides oversight and supervision of sanitation of facilities and grounds as Plant Sanitarian. Supervises & trains sanitation staff in frequency and methods of cleaning. Ensures maintenance of MSDS for all chemicals within the plant and production and trains employees on appropriate use. Accompanies state, federal and third party auditors. Recommends and implements corrective action plans as required.
  • Fosters a cooperative relationship with all internal and external customers.
  • Partners with DOC in the R&D process and the conversation of small to big batch recipes.
  • Oversees all the necessary R&M and PM requirements for the equipment
Required Skills

Job Requirements
  • BS degree in related field required (culinary arts, food science)
  • Food manufacturing experience is a requirement (time/temperature in manufacturing process and equipment) 5 to 10 years
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of food safety SQF, GMP’s, HACCP, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Just in Time (JIT) and Continuous Improvement Methodology
  • Working knowledge of Recipe & Inventory Control Management Systems
  • Food safety or HACCP certified
  • Required language: English- Spanish is a plus
