About this job

The Clinical Supervisor, RN provides oversight for the provision and coordination of quality patient care and services. Participates in the orientation of new staff and provides ongoing support to existing staff. Collaborates with staff to ensure the submission of accurate data and assists with reconciling errors. Contributes to clinical operational process and development. Directly supervises clinical staff. Insures adequate skills and adherence with agency policies and procedures.

Performance Responsibilities and Standards:

1. Responsible for the delivery of quality and safe patient care.

a. Ensure delivery of timely and safe clinical services, including the provision of homecare as needed.

b. Facilitate the flow of information and ideas between caregivers, families and patients, conference with disciplines as needed to provide feedback and support in case management responsibilities.

c. Review client records, orders, and other communication for quality and safety of care.

d. Model and implement standards of professional practice.

e. Act as leader with interdisciplinary team.

f. Report and when needed actively resolve complaints, grievances and conflicts with assistance from the Associate Director.

g. Investigate and report incidents of suspected client neglect the Associate Director

h. Participates in On-Call coverage as needed.

2. Responsible for the supervision of clinical staff including staff development and evaluation.

a. Communicate with staff regularly and effectively both verbally and in writing.

b. Ensure staff adherence to performance expectations.

c. Provide training to staff on an ongoing basis.

d. Supervise and evaluate staff performance in a timely manner.

e. Assist and manage accountability of staff in reaching case management goals.

3. Act as a resource for clinicians


a. Understand and ensure compliance with agency policies, practices, and procedures.

b. Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and assist staff in making appropriate referrals.

c. Demonstrate knowledge of, and ensure compliance regulations governing home care.

4. Assume responsibility for personal growth and development as well as for staff.

a. Manage, facilitate and attend meetings.

b. Work cooperatively with staff, managers, and community resources.

Job Qualifications:

1. Current New York State registered professional license.

2. Preferred Bachelor's degree from an approved school, acceptable to New York State Department of Health.

3. Two years experience as a clinician in a home health agency.

4. Current professional liability insurance.

5. Current New York State driver's license, automobile insurance and a vehicle which can be used for work.

Physical Requirements:

1. Speaking/visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend and express written/verbal communication.

2. Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity including:

Pushing/pulling – typical weight 50 pounds

Maximum weight 150 pounds

Lifting/carrying – typical weight 25 pounds

Maximum weight 40 pounds

3. Ability to walk and drive in varied weather conditions throughout the year.

4. Ability to use telephone/IT equipment to communicate/document.
