POSITION PURPOSE

This new role is primarily responsible to execute the strategies developed by the leadership team by taking responsibility for delivering results on a day-to-day, quarter-to-quarter basis. Also, as a member of the leadership team you will be responsible to assist in crafting both the short and long term focus areas for the team (e.g. objectives, strategies, etc.).

Aggressive Targets: The mission of the team is to radically change the buying experience at The Home Depot for pro customers. In the last five years, the team has built a software application & marketplace that facilitates $1.5B in sales to Pro customers. We are targeting over $2B in sales next year.

Lots of Moving Parts: Responsible for strategically engaging and capturing marketplace demand, driving sales and executing programs that make a material impact on The Home Depot's sales volume. Oversees all aspects related to sales and fulfillment of The Home Depot products through product application. Responsible for a operational activities that drive top line growth, achieved through optimizing the people and processes that drive sales and fulfillment operations. This role will manage all tactical activities with vendors, merchant and end users.

What problem will you be solving in this role?

The Director of Operations is responsible for managing multiple teams and optimizing the processes and programs that drive top line sales through a rapidly growing Pro marketplace. You will be responsible for increasing sales by strategically optimizing THD Pro product and service offerings (e.g. offerings, assortment, price, COGS, fulfillment, services, etc.).

50% - Strategic Operational Execution: Develop a comprehensive operations strategy in sync with QuoteCenter objectives. Directs and leads strategic projects focused on growth and integrates multiple teams, functions and processes that facilitate revenue generating programs.

30% - Financial Management: Major contributor to top line sales, develops forward-looking action plans and reports to business leaders on a routine basis. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.

20% - Leadership: Leads, plans, coordinates teams in an efficient manner to effectively perform programs and processes; utilizes metrics to track performance and manage workload. Ensures operational processes and procedures are compliant and consistent with established policies.

  8. Create frameworks for managing relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, merchants, and store operations

Experience

  1. Experience managing line managers whose teams are responsible for driving engagement and support.
  2. A broad grasp of the retail environment and sales experience (category management, cost optimization, pricing strategy, etc)
  3. Develop relationships with merchants, vendors, field programs/personnel and customers
  4. Data governance experience with retail master data strongly preferred
  5. Robust, scalable business process development
  6. Fostering a business culture that strives for increasingly higher levels of efficiency
  7. Financial and reporting systems experience
  8. Brand and awareness programs development
  9. Customer support and field training
  10. Appetite for, managing managers and developing talent

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
40%-Uses independent thinking and judgment to identify and implement sustainable process improvements, organizational and systems enhancements that enable improved quality and efficiencies for Merchandising Operations.
20%-Project Management - Lead cross functional projects ensuring that projects are on time, on budget, within scope and on target for successful implementation
20%-Work across the organization to understand opportunities for business process improvement and how to better support Home Depot's stores and merchandising groups
20%-Selects, develops and directs a high performing team

NATURE AND SCOPE
Position reports to General Manager, HD Quote Center.
Position has 2-4 direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 10 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
-Ability to work with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and organize into initiatives that are prioritized based on business need and the delivery of other strategic initiatives across merchandising
-Provide direction and leadership on all aspects of business process improvement efforts
-Expertise in designing, developing, and managing large cross functional projects which includes developing the communications strategies, stakeholder engagement, end user training programs, and driving relevant change management activities with the affected business partners both in and outside of merchandising
-Working knowledge of the technology project lifecycle and ability to partner with IT on large scale initiatives to lead the business team through requirements, design, construction, testing and deployment of solutions
-Familiarity with the organizational change impacts of business process improvements and ERP systems
-General understanding of systems and processes that support merchandising as well as other related functional areas such as Supply Chain, Finance and Store Systems
-Strong presentation and group facilitation skills
-Ability to negotiate and influence others at all levels of the organization
-Ability to develop a structure and processes that support users post system implementations providing a high level of customer service
