The Opportunity

Often a guest's first impression of a property is the result of the Front Desk Agent's skills and abilities. At the Westin Buffalo, our Front Desk Agents offer a high level of professionalism,  effective decision making and are an ambassador for the hotel.

Our Front Desk Agent must be able to smile and be energetic; be composed however engage our guest's; go above and beyond and anticipate the guest's needs; be empathetic and caring while being resourceful; must be knowledgeable about the Buffalo Niagara Region.

Position Details

Shifts may vary based on the business need and must be available for Holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome guests upon arrival.
  • Register guests into the Property Management System - verifying reservation, address, and credit information. 
  • Promote the Starwood Preferred Guest Program (SPG) and provide recognition and benefits to all present members.
  • Post miscellaneous charges as requested.
  • Assist in handling mail, email and facsimiles and providing guest with information regarding hotel facilities and local attractions.
  • Accommodate guest requests
  • Communicate with hotel staff on the status of guest rooms
  • Up Sell guest rooms and promote hotel services
  • Handling cash payments
  • Maintain a clean and neat front desk area
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Successful history as a front desk agent or related hospitality experience
  • Cash handling experience utilizing computerized point of sale system required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office, e-mail and other computer systems required
  • Galaxy Lightspeed experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Attentive and detailed oriented.
  • Ability to maintain a high energy level in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Capable of performing specified procedures and following instructions.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to communicate with guests and co-workers
  • Basic math skills; ability to accurately handle cash and process sales transactions
  • Task-driven individual
