The Opportunity

Do you enjoy multi-tasking in a fast-pace environment?  Delaware North at Honey Creek Resort is currently seeking hard working, energetic Banquet Servers for our convention center.  As a Banquet Server, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of the special event experience for all guests who come to the resort for an invitation only occasion or the lengthy corporate meetings they may be required to attend.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, friendly and possess the ability to work as a member of a team.  This position requires the ability to move from task to task.  Previous experience is desired.

This is a part-time position that can require 36-40 hours during the summer months.

Responsibilities

Assisting with restaurant functions to operate a smooth and safe environment. Including providing customers with a rewarding experience during their time with us. Exemplifies the 10 Universal Service Standards and provides excellent guest service as detailed in the GuestPath Service Standards.

                                                                                                           

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Ensure the highest quality service for guest satisfaction by doing whatever is necessary to make it happen.
    1.  Greet guests with a friendly “Hello” and escort them to their tables.
    2. Inform them of the daily specials.
    3. Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request. Be able to explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
    4. Take orders from guests for food or . Describe and recommend to customers.
    5. Check guests’ identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
    6. Must be able to read a BEO and know how to complete a setup.
    7. Serve food and/or beverages to guests and serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
    8. Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
    9. Sets tables in assigned areas correctly and uniformly. Making sure all items on table and linens are clean.
    10. Knows the menu for each function and can answer questions about the meal.
    11. Wears proper uniform at all times in accordance of the standards of appearance.
    12. Facial hair is trimmed and well kept.
  2. Ensure the restaurant appears clean and inviting at all times.
    1. Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning.
    2. Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and .
    3. Decorates buffet in preparation of serving.
    4. Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
    5. Cleans banquet rooms plus the hallway during and after an event.
    6. Completes any assigned side work.
    7. Performs other duties as assigned by the manager, captain or food and beverage director.
    8. Fill , pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.

  2. Sales and Marketing -- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  3. Active Listening -- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  4. Service Orientation -- Actively looking for ways to help people.
  5. Coordination -- Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
  6. Appearance..Proper uniform before clocking in per department policy.
  7. Trunk Strength/Gross Body Coordination -- The ability to use your body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
     

 REQUIREMENTS:


            Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be current and knowledgeable of the event menus as well as wine and beverage lists. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in order to meet the needs of the resort. Must be highly motivated and attentive to details.
