The Opportunity

Essential Functions Statement

  • Describe tour points of interest to those on the tour and respond to questions.  
  • Monitor tour attendees activities to ensure compliance with establishment or tour regulations and safety practices.  
  • Provide directions and other pertinent information to attendees.  
  • Greet and register attendees, and issue any required identification badges or safety devices.  
  • Distribute any tour related literature and explain relevant history and points of interest at tour sites.  
  • Research various topics, including site history, environmental conditions, and attendee's skills and abilities to plan appropriate expeditions, instruction, and commentary.  
  • Drive motor vehicles to transport guests, groups, clients, etc. to establishments and tour site locations.  
  • Provide for physical safety of groups, performing such activities as providing first aid and directing emergency evacuations.  
  • Provide information about local flora and fauna, as well as any relevant regulations and habitats.  
  • Prior to departing for tours: Gather attendee's meals from the kitchen, ensure they are correct against the order documents and load them onto the vehicle(s). Fill ice chest with fresh beverages and load onto the vehicle(s). Refill snacks container as needed.  
  • Complete any necessary administrative paperwork such as product requisition requests, meal order forms, shift closing documents and vehicle inspection sheets.  
  • Maintain the drive log recording each shuttle time of departure, current mileage, departure location, destination location and total number of passengers.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
 
Education:         High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required 
                             Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school)
 
Preferred, Field of Study:              
                             History 
 
Experience:        6 plus months of experience in driving with a CDL (Commercial Drivers                                     License) 
                              Prior tour industry experience preferred. 
                              Intermediate to expert knowledge on Yosemite National Park preferred. 
 
Computer Skills: Ability to navigate Office365 programs successfully with minimal                                                  assistance.
                               Ability to navigate the internet with minimal to no assistance.  
 
Certifications & Licenses:              
                                Active Commercial Drivers License  
 
 
Other Requirements: Possess the ability to drive in all types of weather conditions to include but not limited to snow, sleet, rain, hail, sunshine, wind and overcast. Must be able to drive on Mountain roads.
 
Ability to speak other languages preferred.
