Job Description:
- The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying patient eligibility and benefits.
- This position is responsible for collecting insurance information via multiple methods, runs test claims and completes administrative duties.
- Work is specifically specialty - insurance provider, blues plan.
- Utilize initial referral form to determine if additional information will be needed in order to complete verification of benefits
- Contact referral source, patient, and/or doctor's office to obtain additional information that is required to complete verification of benefits
- Verify and document insurance coverage of medications, administration supplies and related pharmacy services including prior authorization requirements and coordination of benefits
- Notify doctor's office if a prior authorization is required; fax forms to the doctor's office for completion
- Place outbound calls to patients or doctor's offices to notify of any delays due to more information needed to process or due to a prior authorization

Work Environment:
- Team/Department/Culture:
- IV Team New team - Started in July of 2017
- Building team from scratch
- Leadership team is still building
- Team growing from 150 to 450
- All systems worked with - RxClaim version or more Script med!
- Hours/OT:
- 40 Hours a week - OT will be available
- Candidate needs to be available between 7am - 8pm MONDAY-SUNDAY
- Candidate will work at least 1 weekend day
- **Will confirm their schedule during training.**
- Training Overview:
- Hours- 8:30-5pm Monday-Friday
- 4 week from start date.
- **There is no time off during training hours**
- Training Metrics:
- Spend the first few days understanding the business
- Will get into the day in, day outs the first couple of weeks
- Will shadow current team members the last couple of weeks
- Attendance/Vacation:
- No time off during training
- Once training has been completed we will be in peak
Time off will be dealt with one offs but larger lumps of time off/vacation will not be grant
Performance Expectations:
- Success Metrics:
- Someone who is independent
- Understands insurance from the get go
- This is a research/customer position service - Really strong communication, will be speaking with all levels
- Very Organized - able to multi task.
- Good Versus Great:
- Previous healthcare billing
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Problem solving skills
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
Qualifications:
- High school diploma from an accredited school or equivalent GED
- 1+year of work experience in a health care related/insurance related field
- Prior experience working with computer programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPhT certification
- Current Pharmacy Technician license for state of employment
- College education / technical school education
- 1+ year Insurance Verification/Medical Billing
