Job Summary: The senior buyer manages incoming purchasing requests, generates external purchasing requests, and tracks delivery of goods and services. This position purchases and negotiates materials, equipment, and supplies from suppliers. The senior buyer evaluates supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.

 

Senior Buyer Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate physical movement of materials, parts, finished goods, and information to ensure optimization of cost and service level
  • Manages purchasing for complex materials and strategic suppliers
  • Manages incoming internal purchasing requests, generating external purchasing requests, and tracking delivery of goods and services
  • Purchases and negotiates materials, equipment, and supplies from suppliers
  • Develops & manages supply base through use of supplier selection, corrective actions, audits and feedback systems

 

Senior Buyer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (5-8 years)
  • Technical certification preferred
  • Project management experience
  • Leadership training
  • Develops strong relationships and provides effective communication, prioritization, and alignment across value streams, sites, business units, and functions
  • Demonstrates capability for engaging with external business partners to provide seamless linkage of supply chain processes
  • Demonstrates capabilities in material management, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), pull systems, flow, and the implementation of lean concepts
  • Relevant certification in APICS (CPIM, CSCP, CFPIM), ISM (CPM, CPSM, CSM), or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent negotiation and problem solving skills. Possess exceptional conflict resolution skills and is adept at dealing with situations involving conflict.

 

Compensation: $53,000 - $80,000, DOE
