Working in partnership with the Zone / Market Manager Asset & Profit Protection, the incumbent uses data analytics, trend, and outlier intelligence to address profit drain opportunities within a limited geographic market within or across formats. This position executes company programs concerning profit protection, margin improvement, inventory shortage control, internal & external dishonesty detection / detention and safety / hazardous materials / environmental issues. Generally works within a limited geographic market supporting multiple stores but on occasion will work regionally or nationally. Position will work across retail formats and at times work with Supply Chain and Home Services to support as needed.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Using available analytics, makes independent decisions to target efforts and travels to stores within and across formats. Addresses outlier performance, conduct training sessions, completes investigations, and other duties in partnership with AP and Operations leadership.
  • Conducts assessments, generates reporting, and actions plans for AP and operational performance that impacts shortage control profitability and mitigate risk. Actively works with the store team, providing direction to management on the development and implementation of action plans to improve performance.
  • Compiles data from various reports, databases, and collective observations. Synthesizes information and develops gap analysis to generate multi-disciplinary training opportunities. Schedules, conducts and assesses the impact of training for Market and Regions.
  • Maintains current knowledge in the areas of safety, food safety (as applicable), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and environmental programs. Assesses needs, develop plans, involves appropriate partners, and ensures implementation and compliance in the assigned store.
  • Adapts own behaviors and communication to gain cooperation in situations where he/she has no direct authority.
  • Uses a disciplined, systematic approach to develop, document, and continuously improve upon processes. Makes recommendations to leadership on new processes to ensure store and market profitability
  • Personally models organization cultural beliefs and leadership capabilities; demonstrates personal credibility and high integrity.
  • Coaches and trains associates, partners with AP and Store Operations to recommend and deliver corrective action(s) as necessary to APP associates per company guidelines.
  • Uses available data from multiple sources and processes that information to detect and resolve organized retail crime and other major criminal investigations
  • Conduct internal and external \"blitz type\" investigations as directed.
  • Owns investigative process for those uncovered within area of influence by referring cases to law enforcement and through the criminal justice system
  • Train field AP personnel on proper investigative and interview methodologies
  • Assist in monthly reviews of Case Management system cases and incidents to identify patterns of thefts/losses or cases to plan blitz activities and perform required follow up.
  • Train field personnel on proper policy and procedures in relation to damages, defectives, POS and other systemic functions that contribute to profit drain in retail stores
  • Actively seeks and suggests better ways of getting the job done and learns from both successes and failures
  • Conducts safety and food safety (as applicable) inspections on a regular basis, ensures timely and accurate root cause analysis, ensures reporting of results, and assists in the development and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensures compliance with merchandise protection standards to enhance the customer shopping experience. Suggests new methods and practices to improve merchandise protection devices and strategies.
  • Evaluate internal control systems (including those found after resolution of investigations) and provide recommendations for change.
  • Works with Zone, Market, and Corporate resources to utilize leading and lagging analytics to determine locations with underperforming metrics that need to be addressed and/or where training or additional support is recommended.
  • Develops schedules, coordinates with peers and Corporate remote monitoring, analytics, and investigations teams to assess and address resources to area of highest exposure to SHC. Ensures execution of plan, independently develops action reviews and recommendations for long term mitigation of issues identified.
  • Performs other duties as necessary based on Unit, Zone, Market or Region results and needs


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree
3-4 years of related experience
Up to 50% travel
18 years of age or older

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze information, identify root causes, and develop and implement approved solutions in stressful situations
  • Experience in retail internal/external investigations, including multi-store investigations.
  • Knowledge of financial operations and processes; analytical skills to diagnose root cause of deficiencies
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of internal and external team members
  • Ability to use strategic thought processes to minimize exposure to emerging threats and trends
  • Formal Interview and Interrogation training and competency.
  • Microsoft Office computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to form strong partnerships across reporting relationships
  • Knowledge of POS and other Retail Systems.
  • Competencies in CCTV, Alarm, Exception Reporting, Case Management tools.
