Position Summary: Mayo Clinic is ranked #1 in Florida, # 1 in the Jacksonville Metro area, and is nationally ranked in seven adult specialties by US News and World Report. This Hospital Pharmacy Technician position is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Pharmacy team in Florida.

Responsibilities: Assists pharmacists in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Performs accurate and timely distribution of medications which may include potentially critical, high expense medications, chemotherapy, investigational agents, controlled substances and potentially hazardous substances in a dosage form ready for administration. Utilizes technical equipment such as automated drug dispensing technology, barcode software and automated packaging technology to provide accurate, safe products for patient administration. All products prepared for distribution receive a final check by a licensed pharmacist prior to dispensing. Performs multiple computer functions, facilitates accurate charging/crediting of medications via various computer applications. Good organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize work appropriately and assure timely delivery of product to the patient care areas. Ability to provide optimal customer service having strong telephone and verbal communication skills. Requires a variety of shifts that include days, evenings, occasional nights and every other weekend.

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent experience. Must be able to read, write, communicate and understand English. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Must be organized, efficient, and able to work independently and/or in a team setting. Ability to organize & prioritize work in a high volume, busy environment and pay attention to detail. Ability to work as a team player. Ability to comprehend the use of instruments and operate mechanical equipment. Understanding and application of math & calculator skills and the metric system. Good communication and telephone skills. Computer use and keyboarding skills.

Additional Qualifications: Successfully completes on-the-job training program, evidenced by work sample. Completes institutional training program. Math skills, telephone etiquette, knowledge of pharmacy operations. Prior pharmacy experience preferred (one year).

License or Certification: Registration with the Florida Board of Pharmacy, Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians

Hours/Pay Period: 80

Schedule Details: Day shift with swing shift and evening shift rotation (currently 1-4 swing or evening shifts per 2 week pay period.) Shifts are typically 8.5 hours long, day shifts start between 5:30 - 7:00 a.m., swing shifts start at 11:00 a.m., and evening shifts start at 3:00 p.m.

Weekend Schedule: Current weekend shift rotation is Saturday and Sunday every other weekend.
