Responsibilities: Interacts with patients, allied health staff, providers, and family members to ensure quality service, including timeliness, courtesy and patience. Assists patients through instruction, education and selection of appropriate items, including wigs, scarves, or other hair loss remedies, mastectomy/lumpectomy garments, arm sleeves, compression products, skin lotions and toiletries, and durable medical equipment. Assists patient by measuring patients in order to determine their prosthetic, hair-loss, lymphedema or garment needs and identifies factors that may impact product fit. Fits, tests, and evaluates devices on patients and makes adjustments for proper fit, function and comfort. Instructs patient on the proper use and care of products or equipment. In collaboration with the Supervisor, manages product inventory, maintains vendor relationships, orders, stocks and maintains appropriate inventory levels. Updates and maintains patient records in appropriate systems. Engages in retail sales, product display, and basic boutique cleaning and upkeep. Participates in the marketing of products and services. Communicates information to patient in regards to resources within Mayo Clinic. Reads and deciphers prescription to ensure accurate data entry, insurance claims submission and product selection. May act as a liaison between patient and insurance company. Communicates with Supervisor and department leadership special inventory needs, placing orders where approved. Investigates and resolves customer problems and delivery issues. May provide correspondence, data entry, filing, and appointment scheduling as well as other job related duties as necessary and appropriate.

Qualifications: High School diploma/GED required. A minimum of three years' health care or retail experience required.

Additional Qualifications: Licensed Cosmetologist preferred. Associate's degree preferred. Demonstrated customer service skills. General knowledge and understanding of human anatomy, medical terminology, and physiology. Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, cash register/credit card machines. Ability to multi-task effectively. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with a diverse group of patients, allied health staff, providers and family members. Demonstrated decision-making and critical thinking skills. Ability to work in a team-environment as well as independently. Knowledgeable on Medicare and Medicaid billing. Understanding of third party billing issues. Demonstrated organizational skills.

License or Certification: Based upon assignment: Certified wig fitter preferred or obtain certification within twelve (12) months of employment; AND, Certified post-mastectomy fitter preferred or obtain certification within twelve (12) months of employment; OR, DME certification preferred or obtain certification within three (3) months of hire.
