About this job

Job Summary:
Coordinates and completes the preparation and timely filing of all corporate sales and use taxes, personal property taxes, escheat taxes, state and local business licenses and annual reports.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:


Responsible for assuring taxes owed are processed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.


Maintain tax compliance calendar and ensure all filings are processed in an accurate and timely manner.


Monitor changes in tax laws for impact to the organization.


Perform tax research and special projects as needed.


Respond to government agencies inquiries regarding tax filings, compliance, claims and related matters.


Maintain tax records and files.


Assist with Federal, State and Local tax audits.


Review and approve all customer sales tax exempt requests.


Research, provide data, prepare and pay all corporate personal property and sales/use tax returns.


Prepare and file "unclaimed funds" in accordance with states' requirements.


Review fixed asset additions on a monthly basis to ensure correct federal tax and AMT life and method are being used.


Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualiifications and Educational Requirements:
1. Understand and support the Vision and Values of Staffmark
2. Bachelor's degree in Accoutning and one to three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Organizational skills are a must.
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
5. Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office products. Excel experience required.
6. Detail oriented skills required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
1. The ability to work full-time with periodic evening and weekend work.
2. The ability to frequently use a computer, telephone, and copier/scanner/fax machine.
3. The ability to spend a majority of each work day sitting indoors.
4. The ability to, on occasion, stand, walk, bend, and travel for business.
5. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
