About this job
Columbia University Dining Services is currently seeking candidates to fill Porter positons on a temporary basis. The schedule for this positon is per diem (as need). All shifts including overnight and weekends are available. Candidates that can work consistently on the weekends is a plus! Candidates can work up to 3 months. The ideal candidate should have at least 1 solid year of experience working in a restaurant, kitchen or similar environment as a Porter or Busser. Candidates should have experience washing dishes etc. Experience should be outlined in detail on the resume. High School Diploma or GED is required and must be presented if selected for a pre-screening interview along with government picture ID and social security card. Incumbent will clean and maintain areas such as, but not limited to, kitchens, dining rooms, and basements. Washes dishes, pots and pans. Shampoos rugs. Cleans and washes floors and walls. Uses equipment such as, but not limited to, dishwashing machines, rug shampoo machines, and pot washing machines. Assists other employees in the performance of their jobs, as directed by responsible supervisors, using the necessary equipment in the performance of these jobs. Observes safety standards and practices. Performs related duties as required or assigned with job classification.
