National Facilities Director (17026650) Description

The main objective of the National Director of Facilities is to drive the strategic and operational direction of the facilities function and ensure our restaurants look great and are running efficiently and effectively from a facilities perspective. The National Director of Facilities is responsible for developing budgets and long-range facilities plans based on company growth and future facility’s needs. Demonstrates expertise in long- and short-range facilities planning; construction; maintenance and renovation. Responsible for leading and developing an industry-leading national facilities team that effectively supports great looking and running restaurants. Effectively managing both internal facilities’ resources and external vendors, contractors and suppliers. Demonstrates ability to communicate, present and develop effective relationships with senior leadership.


Responsibilities

In addition to following Chipotle’s policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


•Providing effective leadership at all levels of the company and within the facilities groups including: stewardship of the Chipotle brand, and advocating Chipotle’s long-term goals and areas of current focus

•Overseeing the functioning of all building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management

•Managing an outsourced vendor network and collaboratively working with both external and internal resources

•Ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of projected versus actual annual capital expenditure budget for restaurants, project-specific capital expenditure budgets, and annual departmental G&A budget for facilities-related activities

•Providing effective project execution by ensuring quality of projects, adherence to construction/equipment standards, and that 90-day post-turnover and 11-Month Warranty Reviews are completed on a timely basis

•Ensuring all building operations comply with all local zoning laws and regulations

•Ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of facilities remodel durations and costs directly related to annual Capital Reinvestment projections

•Managing and reducing project timelines and costs; benchmarking as needed against industry norms

•Managing departmental facilities-related standards, facilities policies and procedures including facilities services, data collection, analysis, and reporting (via Finance Department)

•Overseeing the budget and time management for the National Facilities Project and Support Managers to ensure these support positions are providing necessary support to both Regional Facilities teams and Field Leaders/Restaurants

•Effectively managing and maintaining high standards of the Facilities group which includes internal Facilities Managers, Facilities Specialists, out-sourced services, contractors, vendors and suppliers providing services to existing restaurants

•Overseeing contractors involved in facility projects and delivery of services

•Developing and managing internal facilities management relationships working with the Regional Facilities Managers, Operations Field Leaders, and other support department heads

•Collecting, maintaining, and analyzing facilities management data

•Strategically creating, developing, maintaining, and documenting facilities-related procedures, processes, standards, and guidelines

•Creating, implementing, and overseeing facilities maintenance training programs

•Developing Facilities Management personnel from internal department members or identify the need for outside management personnel

•Overseeing annual employee management, performance planning, and performance review process for Facilities Management & Specialist staff

•Managing and maintaining professional relationships between all levels of the company including all disciplines within Development, Operations and other support departments

The ideal candidate will:

•Possess computer and information systems skills (PC preferred) including familiarity with computer applications such as MS Office, MS Project, Oracle Projects, and have AutoCAD R-14 capabilities

•Have thorough knowledge of regulatory and jurisdictional influences on remodel projects

•Have expertise in reading and accurately interpreting construction related documents as they pertain to facilities remodels

•Have thorough knowledge of Facilities-related economics including factors, trends, influences, and benchmarks as these relate to the restaurant and/or retail industry

•Have thorough knowledge of facilities remodel & construction processes, practices, and procedures

•Be knowledgeable of service and maintenance costs and procedures for various building systems

•Have knowledge of rules and regulations governing facilities safety requirements

•Possess excellent verbal and writing skills, with thorough command of grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary

•Have 10 to 15 years in facilities management and related areas, including project management, construction management is preferred but not required

•Have significant experience managing complex organizations, processes, and cost/time sensitive programs

•Have significant experience in multi-unit development of national restaurant or retail brands

•Possess significant field experience in construction project management

•Have a B.A./B.S. in facilities management, architecture, engineering and/or business; or a combination of education and experience is preferred but not required

•Have postgraduate work in facilities management-related area is preferred but not required

•Be certified in facilities management through International Facilities Management Association or other similar organization is preferred but not required

•Be able to travel extensively
